I had the older model 8 years ago but sold it to search for that tone. I've tried many amps, bought and sold over the years and always had to use some outboard gear to get my sound. What I wanted in the first place was to get an amp that I don't have to use any pedals to get my sound, just a nice rich clean sound and an incredible drive channel. well three month ago I stopped at the local Guitar Center(DUE TO TONE FRUSTRATION) and Shipments of Peavey had arrived a week before. Peavey Classic 50 2x12,410,Classic 30 1x12,and 1x15 they have a little sound room where you could crank amps to test. After going through each of the amp I realize how stupid I was for selling my Clssic 50 2x12 8yrs ago. I've been using this fender deville 2x12 which has great clean channel and no one in the world would argue that! but the drive channel is just horrible, muddy flabby lows, overly midrange sometimes you cant tell if the tone control works, anyways later that week I borrowed a friends Classic 50 2x12 that he uses for his band, who's trying to get me to buy one for the last couple of years and was soooo! right, cause after my band rehearsal the guys notice that I blended well with the band the sound was rich and warm both channels, and for solos all I needed was my TS9 and all went well. I guess this is the sound that fender deville wishes it could be! anyways we play all style of tunes except metal which this amp is not for that. so I went and place my order on this site and Craig was a kool help.............oh yeah my friend installed 12AX7WA's on the pre-amp side to get that warmer tone.

if you like simplicity with great clean sound, awesome drive channel(border line metal depending on the humbuckers),not a bunch of rocket science knobs and switches! then this is it. Maybe add Wah! for solos. but for me I just work my volume knob on my guitar for that kinda stuff cause this amp don't need anything else, just a skilled player is all it needs.
